FLEXIPASS GUIDE · CUTTING CHECK-IN QUEUES

Long check-in lines?
Move check-in and the key to the phone

Front desk lines build when every arriving guest stops for registration, payment and a key card at the same time. Online or mobile check-in moves registration and payment before arrival, and a digital key delivered after approved check-in removes the card-collection step, so eligible guests can go straight to their room. FLEXIPASS delivers the key; online check-in runs in a connected partner platform.

Where does the time at the front desk go?

Registration

Guest details and identity checks that the hotel requires.

Payment

Taking payment or a deposit at arrival.

Key cards

Encoding and handing over a card for every guest.

Questions

Directions, Wi-Fi, breakfast and other questions that could be answered before arrival.

How does check-in with a digital key work?

  1. Before arrival, the guest completes online check-in in the hotel’s check-in or guest platform.
  2. The hotel approves check-in and the room is assigned and ready.
  3. The configured workflow delivers a FLEXIPASS Webkey, Mobile Key or Wallet Key to the guest.
  4. The guest goes straight to the room and opens the door with the phone.
  5. Front desk staff spend their time on guests who want help or a conversation.

What does a digital key not fix on its own?

Do not assume that adding a digital key automatically eliminates queues or reduces costs. The key removes the card-collection step for eligible guests; it does not replace the hotel’s required identity, payment or check-in checks.

Lines shrink when check-in, payment and key delivery work as one journey. Keep the front desk and physical keycards for guests who need them.

QUICK ANSWERS

Good questions. Clear answers.

What is the fastest way to reduce hotel check-in lines?

Move registration and payment before arrival with online check-in, then deliver a digital key after approved check-in so eligible guests skip the key-card step. Keep the front desk for guests who need help.

Do guests still need to visit the front desk?

Not for the key, when check-in is completed online and the hotel’s workflow delivers a digital key. The hotel’s identity, payment and check-in rules still apply.

Does FLEXIPASS provide online check-in?

FLEXIPASS connects digital room access to supported hotel workflows. Online check-in services are provided by connected partners, such as guest apps and check-in platforms in the FLEXIPASS marketplace.

Self check-in kiosk or mobile check-in?

Both can be combined with digital keys. A kiosk keeps a step in the lobby; mobile check-in moves it to before arrival. The choice depends on your guests and your check-in rules.

What about guests who want to talk to someone?

They still can. When guests who prefer speed use their phone, staff have more time for guests who want real attention.
