Intelligent Door Locks

Some 45 years ago the Norwegian inventor Tor Sornes developed the recordable keycard door lock solution. The world´s first intelligent access control in hospitality started in 1978 at the Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia USA. From that moment onward new solutions and systems were developed enhancing door control security. The magnetic stripe keycard door lock system was a more efficient product as magnetic cards could be encoded fast and securely. Some years later the chip card door lock followed for enhanced security with encrypted information.

In the late 90’s the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Data) technology was introduced with major advantages in both security and usability. It was only necessary to swipe an encrypted keycard on the door lock reader to enter securely the hotel room. 

The ASSA ABLOY Group started in 1994 when ASSA AB split off from the Swedish security company Securitas AB. Shortly after that, the acquisition of Abloy Oy, a Finnish manufacturer of high-security locks and subsidiary of the Finnish company Wärtsilä was made. In the same year, the ASSA ABLOY Group was listed for the first time on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions offers a wide range of electronic hotel door locks, starting from battery driven door locks to electrical powered wall readers.

The fully cloud based VOSTIO door lock software management and VisiOnline software for on premise installation complete the offering for secure door opening management.

The VingCard Allure product is the design oriented wall reader placed next to the hotel room door. Guest swipe their smartphone or keycard on the electronic reader and then open the door to their hotel room. The wall reader panel can be delivered custom design as also retro lit with LED in different colours.

VINGCARD ESSENCE

The VingCard Essence product is the minimalistic design oriented electronic door lock hardware powered by three AA batteries. This intelligent solution is per default delivered with BLE and RFID technology accepting both smartphones and keycards to enter the room. The all in one integrated BLE and RFID is almost aligned with the door making the design extremely minimalistic and highly preferred by architects and design in the global hospitality industry.

The VingCard Signature RFID product is the design oriented electronic door lock hardware powered by three AA batteries. The door lock can be delivered with both bluetooth and RFID technology making it suitable for smartphones and keycards. The bluetooth and RFID reader are separated from the door lock handle making it a stylish products.

The VingCard Classic RFID product is the world’s most installed electronic door lock hardware solution powered by three 3 AA batteries. It follows the VingCard CLASSIC product design which started with magnetic and chip keycard door lock reader. What makes door lock hardware so common globally was that the company ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions made it easily upgradable to the latest technology.

VINGCARD FLEX

The VingCard Flex product is the retrofit electronical escutcheon solution used for door where the VingCard door lock case is suitable. VingCard FLEX has the advantage that existing door lock cases may be used providing an alternative way to upgrade to a secure access control solution. VingCard FLEX supports BLE and RFID for door lock openings.

The VingCard Remote Controller product is the electrical wall reader solution used for high traffic common doors as main entrances or special doors where an electrical door lock solution is not suitable. The VingCard Remote Controller can be delivered with bluetooth and RFID technology.

The VingCard Elevator Controller product is the electrical wall reader solution used for elevators enabling access management control within the elevator. The VingCard Remote Controller can be delivered with bluetooth and RFID technology.

 
 

VINGCARD ZIGBEE ONLINE NETWORK

ASSA ABLOY VingCard ZigBee VisiOnline Wireless Network

The VingCard ZigBee are intelligent wireless add-on product components enabling the door locks or wall readers to connect almost in real time with the access control management software via a VingCard ZigBee GateWay Module. The VingCard ZigBee GateWay Module connects up to 2 door units and is PoE enabled. Compatible ZigBee ASSA ABLOY Products are: VingCard ALLURE, VingCard ESSENCE, VingCard SIGNATURE RFID, VingCard CLASSIC RFID and VingCard FLEX.

Alternatively VingCard ZigBee compatible door locks can be connected directly via one of the following certified wireless integration partners replacing the VingCard ZigBee GateWay Module: Ruckus Wireless, Aruba Networks.

 

VINGCARD ETHERNET ONLINE NETWORK

The VingCard ethernet GateWay modules are intelligent cabled add-on products components enabling the door locks or wall readers to connect in real time installation with the access control management software. Compatible ethernet GateWay ASSA ABLOY Products are: VingCard ALLURE, VingCard ESSENCE, VingCard SIGNATURE RFID, VingCard CLASSIC RFID, VingCard Remote Controller and VingCard Elevator Controller. For every access control reader a dedicated ethernet GateWay is necessary.

The advantage of an online system solution is the enhanced security as lost keycards for guests and staff can be revoked remotely as also operational efficiency.

With offline access systems door locks are updated once newer keycards are used to inform the lock about the latest updated access rights.

 
 

VOSTIO ACCESS MANAGEMENT CLOUD BASED DOOR LOCK SOFTWARE

VOSTIO Access Management is the fully cloud based door lock software solution offered as a service by ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions. It enables accommodation providers to manage their door locks by accessing a secure cloud based solution. The need of a local PC Server installation is no longer required as all information is securely managed in the Cloud by ASSA ABLOY. Within the near future VOSTIO will become ASSA ABLOY’s main door locking software solution. VOSTIO supports Mobile Access with Digital Keys and Keycards.

VISIONLINE ACCESS MANAGEMENT

VisiOnline Access Management is the secure door lock software solution installed locally on premise on PC Server. VisiOnline is the most installed solution globally. VisiOnline supports Mobile Access with Digital Keys and Keycards. ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions present worldwide provides service and support ensuring accommodation providers and guests can enjoy secure door openings.
